The question…can you bring a dead Boveda pack to life? Can the stiff, brown, enveloped sized humidity marvel rise again?
It appears you can…
The black market cigar talkers occasionally discuss this money saving ability, but no-one says how. Boveda doesn’t want you to know the secret, but I do!
Whats the best way to do it, how well does it work, and is it worth your time?
- Whats the best way to do it?
After some testing of my own it appears very simple to do. Obviously there are countless techniques for success but this was easy enough for me and the results were solid.
First you need to assess how bad of shape the Boveda pack is in. This dictates how long you need to keep it in the “revival state.” The worse the shape = longer.
I used a larger tupperware container and poured about an inch of distilled water into it. I then put a shot glass in the middle and placed the boveda pack on-top of the shot glass. Put the lid of the tupperware on. I left it in this cryogenic state for about 24 hours.
- How well does it work?
It seems to do a pretty good job. The boveda pack regains it’s squishy qualities. The long term question I need to answer is how long will it last and how many times can you bring it back to life.
- Is it worth your time?
This answer depends on your wallet and patience. I prefer to save a few bucks where I can; so as of now it’s definitely worth the time. It’s incredibly easy to do so why wouldn’t you?
